7th All-Russia Conference on Reinsurance: Reinsurance 2003: Potential for Development

In March 2003, the Reinsurance Committee of the All-Russian Insurance Association held the 7th All-Russia Conference on Reinsurance: Reinsurance 2003: Potential for Development.

Organizational and technical support to the conference was provided by the Educational and Methodological Center for Personnel Training (recently reorganized into Business Character Group).

The conference was attended by 260 executives and specialists of 162 insurance, reinsurance, broker, surveyor and consulting companies from 14 countries and representatives of legislative and executive branches of state, media and non-government organizations.

The participants discussed the current situation on, and developments trends of, the Russian reinsurance market, first results of operation of the Russian reinsurance pool, preparations for the introduction of compulsory motor insurance, and the experience of the insurance and reinsurance of third-party motor liability in other countries. The program also included presentations of the insurance markets of India and the Czech Republic.

Workshops, master classes and round tables were dedicated to the practice of court examination of disputes arising out of the performance of insurance and reinsurance agreements, practical aspects of reinsurance of various types of risks, financial and tax aspects of reinsurance transactions, problems relevant to loss adjustment, etc.
